In order to provide supportive infrastructure related to Geographic Information Science (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) activities, the Department of Geography and the Walter Hitschfeld Library have established the Geographic Information Center (GIC). The GIC is located on the 5th floor of Burnside Hall and includes a map library, high-end GIS & RS computers, and special teaching facilities. GIOS extends this service by offering online information and support on a dedicated website maintained by the Department of Geography. As the Department of Geography, we offer a variety of GIS & RS courses and manage a dedicated e-classroom (Burnside 511). Our researchers engage in many GIS & RS projects. Our professional GIS & RS staff maintains specialized software applications and provides user support. While the primary goal of GIOS is to serve the students and faculty members of the Department of Geography, we are happy to extend our services to the wider GIS & RS community of McGill University whenever possible.

E-classroom (Burnside 511) – Information about the new electronic, active learning classroom in Burnside 511, which offers an exceptional environment for courses and labs that require intensive computer use: What are the beneficial features of the lab and how can I book it?
