Welcome to Marnie Branfireun's Homepage!Because northern peatlands are known to be high exporters of methylmercury to natural ecosystems, and because the bryophyte (moss) species that comprise the majority of these peatland plant communities are known to have high tissue concentrations of MeHg, exploring this relationship may provide useful insight into our understanding of mercury cycling in natural systems. My field research is done at the Experimental Lakes Area (ELA) in Northwestern Ontario. I am currently in the process of building this home page. Thanks for your patience!
