Patrick Forest, PhD Water is a source of tension, but also of cooperation. Sometimes, transfers are seen as the solution to water scarcity, be it at the local, regional or continental scale. As a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Geography Department at McGill University, I am conducting research on transboundary collaboration and water transfers in North America (see the "Current Projects" section of this website), under the supervision of Professor Benjamin Forest. I received my PhD in International Studies from the Institut québé cois des hautes é tudes internationales at Université Laval. During the course of my doctorate, I was a Fellow at The John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding at Dartmouth College, a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Geography at Dartmouth College, and a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Geography at Simon Fraser University. My research is and had been financially supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), le Fonds de recherche sur la société et la culture (FQRSC), The John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding, and the Institut Hydro-Québec en environnement, développement et société, among others. I have published widely in academic and popular journals and other media, and I am the editor of the book Géographie du droit: épistémologie, développement et perspectives. *** L'eau est source de tension, mais aussi de collaboration. Le transfert d'eau potable est souvent perçu comme une solution aux problèmes de rareté, que ce soit au niveau local, régional ou continental. En tant que chercheur postdoctoral au sein du dé partement de géographie de l'Université McGill, sous la supervision du professeur Benjamin Forest, mes recherches portent sur la collaboration transfrontalière et le transfert d'eau potable en Amérique du Nord (voir la section "current projects"). Je suis détenteur d'un doctorat en études internationales obtenu à l'Institut québécois des hautes études internationales à l'Université Laval. Durant mes études doctorales, j'ai été Fellow au The John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding à Dartmouth College, chercheur invité au département de géographie de Dartmouth College, et chercheur invité au département de géographie de Simon Fraser University. Mes recherches ont été, entre autres, financées par le Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines du Canada, The John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding, et l'Institut Hydro-Québec en environnement, développement et société.
